Writing in his column for the London Evening Standard, TV judge Rob Rinder has accused Meghan Markle of 'brainwashing' Prince Harry

What a day it has been for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex

A little over 24 hours before the screening of their interview with Oprah Winfrey on ITV, Harry and Meghan have been hit with a barrage of criticism from two intellectual heavyweights; former Stoke City and England goalkeeper Peter Shilton and TV judge Rob Rinder.

In a post published earlier today on Twitter, Shilton wrote: “I think Harry & Meghan are about to feel the wrath of our nation.

“Many Brits and our British press will want to defend and protect our Queen, I think thousands will stand united behind our sovereign!”

This was in keeping with Shilton’s recent Twitter activity. Three days ago, the man who is definitely, one-hundred-percent over Diego Maradona asked:

“What happened to Harry and Megan who supposedly left this country and the Royal Family for Canada and for a quiet life? Now we see them continually making interviews and living in the showbiz world of LA making quips at the Royal Family and calling them the Firm ! Not on !”

While Shilton’s obsession with the pair understandably attracted criticism, it seems there are still some famous faces who agree with the sentiment.

Rob Rinder – better known as TV’s Judge Rinder – was critical of Harry and Meghan when writing in his column for the London Evening Standard.

He wrote: “As for this big chat with Oprah, I find the ‘Me Me Me-ness’ of the whole affair incredibly off-putting.”

The TV judge and former Strictly Come Dancing contestant also accused Meghan of “brainwashing” Prince Harry.

“I admire how Meghan – the smartest royal since scholarly Queen Caroline in the eighteenth century – has managed to fill Harry up with her own far more interesting ideas.

“This’ll have required an arduous programme of gentle brainwashing and, don’t be fooled, it’s not easy to pull off… If I could do it, I’d probably still be married.”
