The Boys is getting a Soldier Boy and Stormfront prequel series

Ryan Price

Great news for fans of the show!

Fans of Prime Video’s The Boys will be delighted to hear that two of the show’s much-loved characters will feature heavily in a new prequel series.

The final episode of season four of the hit superhero series was released on July 18, and showrunners have already confirmed that the fifth and final season will hit our screens sometime in 2026.

The story follows a team of vigilantes known as ‘The Boys’ – led by the sweet Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid) and the tough-as-nails Billy Butcher (Urban), whose lives were ruined by a group of so-called heroes called ‘supes’ – as they work to covertly root out and take out the worst of the bunch.

Their biggest target: Homelander (Antony Starr), the most famous and beloved of the supes – is secretly a sadistic mass murderer.

These superheroes are far from the infallible beings other franchises make them out to be, and are instead highly corrupt and problematic.

The unique series has been one of the most consistently entertaining and watchable shows of recent years, ever since its premiere all the way back in 2019.

Now, Jensen Ackles – the actor who portrays the character of Soldier Boy – has revealed that a lot more is yet to come while appearing at the San Diego Comic Con.

During a Q&A panel, Ackles answered questions on the much-rumoured Vought Rising sequel, and revealed that both Aya Cash (Stormfront) and himself are set to reprise their roles from the original series.

He also confirmed that The Boys executive producer Paul Grellong is already in place as the prequel’s showrunner, and that the story will be set in New York in the 1950’s.

Cash herself then appeared via a recorded video to announce her involvement, and to say she’s read the scripts.

“We’ve got everything from Judy Garland to Paul McCartney,” she said.

A release date wasn’t mentioned.

The newly-released season four finale opened with a disclaimer following the attempted assassination of Donald Trump.

When the titles for each episode of the season were announced weeks ago, the finale was titled Assassination Run.

However, this has now been changed on Prime Video, with the eighth episode now simply titled Season 4 Finale.

This is after former US president Trump was the target of an assassination attempt during a rally in Pennsylvania on July 13.

In a grim case of fiction mirroring reality, part of the finale for The Boys revolves around an assassination plot of a fictional president.

The finale sees main character Hughie try to foil an assassination attempt on President-Elect Robert Singer, orchestrated by the show’s villainous protagonist Homelander.

As a result of the real-world events that took place earlier this month, a disclaimer was added to the start of episode eight at the last minute.

It reads: “Viewer discretion advised. This episode contains scenes of fictional political violence. Any similarities to recent events are completely coincidental and unintentional. Prime Video, Amazon, MGM Studios, Sony Pictures Television and the producers of The Boys oppose, in the strongest terms, real-world violence of any kind.”

A large part of the narrative of The Boys is mocking the alt-right movement that has developed in the US over the last few years.

Some people have also taken Homelander’s character to be Trump-esque figure in the show.
