That time Sepp Blatter was trolled by Robin Williams

This is glorious – one the biggest jokers of all time sharing a stage with a Hollywood star.

For the 1994 World Cup draw, some bright spark thought it would be a good idea to invite the late, great Robin Williams to lock horns with wannabe funny man Sepp Blatter. Knowing his ego, it was probably Sepp himself.

The result is cringeworthy and brilliant, with Williams hilariously mocking Blatter throughout without the Fifa chief properly realising what’s going on – all on a set that looks like it’s from a cheap 80s quiz show.

The American comic is on great form from the outset, introducing himself in a faux-European accent with “Mr Bladder, so nice to meet you after feeling you for so many years – you’re full I guess?”

After asking whether it’s time to “pull the blue balls”, Williams moves into position. Blatter’s idea of witty banter is referring to the Hollywood star’s movies such as Aladdin and Mrs. Doubtfire. Williams responds by calling him ‘Bladder’ again – and again, nothing.

As the proceedings get underway, Blatter becomes more and more sure that he’s part of comedy double-act, not quite realising that he’s the butt of the jokes. Even when Williams reaches for the balls and asks Sepp to “turn your head to the side and cough”, there’s only a confused smile.

It’s just a weird and wonderful situation, that reminds us just how much Williams is missed – and how Blatter won’t be missed at all.
