“I would just like to confirm that this is NOT me…”
The Chase‘s Anne Hegerty is better known to fans of the show as “The Governess”.
She is not, however, known to be a Newcastle United supporter.
That came into question this weekend though after the sports department of Newcastle newspaper The Chronicle posted a photo of the Toon Army celebrating their 1-0 away victory over Leicester on Friday night.

People on social media though thought that one fan in the crowd somewhat resembled The Chase regular – so she took to Twitter to confirm it was not her.

Credit to Hegerty, she took it in good humour.

Newcastle collected all three points against Leicester City through a first-half goal from Spanish striker Ayoze Pérez.
Anne Hegerty joined the Chase in 2010. As well as appearing on the show, Anne Hegerty has competed on Mastermind twice, Fifteen to One, Today’s the Day and Brain of Britain; and was a semi-finalist on the second series of Are You an Egghead? She came 65th in the World Quizzing Championships in 2017. She also appears on the Australian version of The Chase, along with fellow British chaser Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett.
She was also a contestant on the 18th series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! in November last year.
