The Coen Brothers are working on the new Scarface reboot

We can't wait for this

Say hello to my little remake…

One of the most iconic movies of all time is getting another go around in Hollywood, but before we all start complaining about how there’s no original ideas left, just remember that Brian De Palma’s 1983 version starring Al Pacino was itself a remake of Howard Hawks’ 1932 classic. Which actually only cements the whole “there’s no original ideas left” argument, come to think of it…

Anyways, there’s been a lot of background noise in getting this new version off the ground. Leonardo DiCaprio was briefly mentioned for the lead role, but its now been confirmed that the part will be going to Rogue One’s Diego Luna. Meanwhile, the writer/director’s chair has become something of a revolving door, with David Ayer (Suicide Squad), Jonathan Herman (Straight Outta Compton), Pablo Larrain (No) and Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) all involved in some capacity at one point or another.

Now Variety are reporting that the Coen Brothers have been brought in to work on the existing script, but there’s no word if they’ll potentially be filling the currently vacant director position. The geniuses behind No Country For Old Men, Fargo and Miller’s Crossing have previously provided their script-doctoring services for Spielberg (Bridge Of Spies) and Angelina Jolie (Unbroken), but can you imagine what might happen if they decide to direct it too? We can but dream.

In the meantime, take a look at this recent Superbowl ad they directed for Mercedes, which actually stars Peter Fonda in a sorta-mini-sequel to Easy Rider.
