You’ll get your chance to make up your own mind up soon
The long awaited Han Solo spin-off movie, Solo: A Star Wars Story is almost upon us. Fans were concerned about how the finished film would come out, after its very troubled production. The Lego Movie duo Phil Lord and Christopher Miller were replaced by Ron Howard late in production, and for a long time we hadn’t had any glimpse at the film. But then a trailer finally dropped, and it had Donald Glover looking cool, and people got their hopes up again.
The film had its world premiere last night in LA, and the first reactions have hit social media. And it’s mostly very positive.
Got out of #SoloAStarWarsStory and I’m completely floored. This movie seriously holds up! I was on the edge of my seat and had so much fun watching it! Interviewing the stars of the film tomorrow, cannot wait ❣️ pic.twitter.com/7GAr6h2c8q

#Solo is afun! I was pleasantly surprised that it worked as well as it did given all the behind the scenes drama & retooling. Charming cast, fun action, good jokes, good fan service but still does its own thing. #StarWars will be fine.

Ooo @StarWars fans you are in for a friggin TREAT w/ #Solo. Killer cast. A great adventure. So much fun. #hansolo

#Solo was a blast. The Kasdans nail the character of Han Solo. Yes, the story is a series of expected events (Han meets chewie….etc) but none of them happen as expected. Stay away from spoilers, big Marvel-level shit that will make you wonder where Lucasfilm is headed next.

There had been rumours that the studio was unhappy with newcomer Alden Ehrenreich’s performance. But the initial feedback suggests he’s done Harrison Ford proud.
Another thing about 'Solo: A Star Wars Story' that really stood out are the action set pieces. They were GREAT and so well choreographed.
Also thought Alden Ehrenreich was perfectly cast as Han Solo. Trust me entire cast was fantastic. Can't wait to see it again. pic.twitter.com/Sh5IC8qnSF

#SoloAStarWarsStory is reaaaaalllly good. Fun as hell. It’s a straight intergalactic heist movie, kind of refreshing to see a Star Wars movie w/o a Death Star or the rebellion’s fate at stake. Alden Ehrenreich is super impressive as Han, but L3 might be my favorite new character.

But unsurprisingly, it sounds like Donald Glover is the MVP.
#SoloAStarWarsStory has a bit of a rough start, but it was a blast of of an adventure. And yes, Donald Glover steals the movie! But you already knew that. pic.twitter.com/4SGiq6tDmQ

#Solo is a ton of fun! Alden Ehrenreich is full of charm and definitely does right by Harrison Ford. Not to mention Donald Glover, who's equally great as Lando.
Don't let the drama and rumors fool you, this is a seriously fun, exciting addition to the Star Wars universe!

It’s worth remembering that premiere reaction is always a bit biased – these people have got to see the film early, surrounded by the cast at a glitzy event, and probably got free food and drink. After the Justice League premiere, a lot of positivity was floating around on social media. But it’s a good sign.
