Independence Day: Resurgence
London is in trouble in the delightfully cheesy trailer for Independence Day: Resurgence. While Will Smith won’t be returning for this outing (RIP Captain Steven Hiller), the able Liam Hemsworth will be stepping into his shoes to fend off a returning alien threat in the new future.
Kudos to the trailer for giving us a glimpse of the new gravity warping powers of the returning aliens, and of course any excuse to watch Jeff Goldblum do anything is a welcome treat.
Independence Day: Resurgence is released June 23, 2016.
The Founder

The origins of McDonald’s are under the microscope in fascinating biographical film The Founder. Michael Keaton is back in full on “give me a sodding Oscar, Birdman was great” mode as Ray Kroc, the man who’s credited as the founder of McDonald’s restaurants. Except according to this film it took a lot of double crossing, back stabbing and legal shenanigans for Kroc to get there. Hmm… now we’re hungry.
The Founder is released August 5, 2016.
X-Men: Apocalypse
Things are looking suitably apocalyptic in the final trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse. The eighth (that’s right, EIGHTH) film starring the mutant superheroes will see the band more divided than ever, as they try to take on Omega Level (that’s comic speak for REALLY sodding powerful) mutant Apocalypse, who naturally wants to destroy the world.
Looks suitably big and crash-bang-wallop. Look out for the interesting character cameo right at the end.
X-Men: Apocalypse is released May 27, 2016.
Batman: The Killing Joke

An animated adaptation of the classic 1988 Alan Moore graphic novel, The Killing Joke will be the very first R-rated DC endorsed Batman film. The story, which sees a deranged Joker out to prove that just “one bad day” can turn even the noblest of souls good, is one of the Dark Knight’s most famous (and depressing) tales. With Batman: The Animated Series bods on voice work, including Star Wars‘ Mark Hamill voicing The Joker, it’s promising to be a sleeper hit when it is released to DVD.
Batman: The Killing Joke is released later this year (exact date TBC).
Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie
Edina and Patsy are back for another cigarette and booze filled romp through the fashion world. This time they’re heading to the French Riviera to try and live it up. Nearly 60 celebrities have signed up for cameos in the new film, including Stella McCartney, Lily Cole, Emma Bunton and Gwendoline Christie. Here’s hoping it’s more The Player than Entourage.
