David Bowie knew he was terminally ill with liver cancer for more than a year but continued to entertain until his death on January 10.
As well as leaving us with the parting gift, Blackstar, which – from the symbolic references to death – appears to be his eulogy, it seems the icon was also active on Twitter.
Assuming he had control over his account – and as someone who controlled his art until the end, we’ll believe he did – the last account he followed was ‘God’.
Sean Keaveny, host of BBC 6Music Breakfast, who has been presenting a wonderful, heartfelt obituary featuring archived music and interviews since Bowie’s death, must be pretty thrilled he was on his radar too.
Hours after Bowie’s son Duncan Jones confirmed his father had died, ‘The Tweet of God’ posted:
David Bowie was the God I always wanted to be.

And on Tuesday the parody account wrote:
Honestly, hanging out with David Bowie is even cooler than I thought it would be!

David Bowie leaves us as a bonafide legend for a myriad of reasons, but to think he maintained a sense of humour on his deathbed is something else.
