This ‘Game Of Thrones’ theory about Arya will make your head explode (honestly)

Could it be?

Before we go any further, you all know the drill…

got-spoilers

For those up to date with the latest events in Westeros and beyond, prepare to have your minds blown into tiny pieces after reading the latest fan theory about Arya Stark.

Arya hasn’t been having the best of times in Braavos, and towards the end of this week’s episode, ‘The Broken Man’, she managed to bargain her way onto a ship that would get her the hell out of there and away from creepy Jaqen and his collection of faces.

But poor Arya made the misguided decision to stand pensively at the side of a bridge just moments after striking the deal with the sailor. With her gaze fixed on the horizon, she hardly noticed an old woman sneaking up next to her – an old woman who dramatically revealed herself to be the Waif seconds before repeatedly plunging a knife into her stomach.

Arya managed to throw herself off and into the water below, before the Waif was able to apply the fatal blow, but it wasn’t looking good.

Jaqen had permitted Waif to get rid of his disobedient protégé in the previous week’s episode, so the viewers knew this moment was coming.

But if a pretty out-there (but definitely not implausible in the GoT universe) fan theory is to be believed, however, then it might not have happened at all. In fact, if you go along with this fan theory, then Arya and the Waif are actually the same person.

Yep, the Waif only exists within the Stark girl’s mind.

We’ll let Redditor CatNamedStupidity explain their thought process:

It’s true that you never see Jaqen speak to both girls at the same time, and he often asks the Waif to leave the room before addressing Arya. If it does turn out to be true, then it’s fair to say we’ve all been well and truly had – well, everyone except CatNamedStupidity. They should probably think about giving themselves a more complimentary name if they’ve sussed this one.

Hopefully we won’t have to wait long to find out either way, as episode eight is ominously titled “No One’. Bring it on.
