Considering how many 90s reboots we’ve had over the last few years, it’s surprising that it has taken this long for a Mighty Ducks sequel.
But according to Matt Doherty, who played Lester Averman in the original films, a fourth Mighty Ducks film is in the works. Appearing on the Quack Attack podcast, Doherty answered questions about whether he had written a script for a sequel by saying:
“I have not. However, I do have some of the inside scoop on the details of that. But if I told you, I’d have to kill you. No, I do know that definitely, there are definitely people who are working on that.
“There’s definitely a lot of talk about — more than talk, actually… getting a whole bunch of different groups and studios and people all together to look at, like, who owns the, you know. Those kind of things take time …”
Speculation about a fourth installment has been growing since Josh Jackson – aka Charlie Conway – posted this tweet:
Julie the cat for the win. Thanks #NHLMovieNight for keeping me entertained on my flight. I think it's time for a new generation of ducks

He even made an interesting suggestion for who would play him if the series were to be rebooted:
“@littlefluffycat: @VancityJax ah, but how to find a future you? ;)”I nominate the young man from #jurassicworld. He may be my clone anyway

And no, he’s not referring to Chris Pratt. He’s talking about the similarities between him and Jurassic World’s Ty Simpkins.
