Iain Lee has not had the easiest time in the I’m A Celebrity jungle and now we know why he decided to get involved in the first place.
He’s taking part in the reality show to help pay for his mum’s medical care, it’s been revealed.
The radio DJ’s mum has multiple sclerosis and requires constant care. Her nursing home fees amount to £1,500 a week, which he and his family cannot afford, he said on his radio show last year.
“Her health is a constant worry for Iain,” a source told the Mirror.
“He spends a lot of time with her every week. The cost of the care home is almost certainly a factor in him doing the show.
“On a positive note his mum is enjoying seeing him on the show and back on TV so it has had a positive effect. Iain will be chuffed when he hears this.”
Iain has been accused by other campmates this week of having a ‘game plan’ on the show.
Upon leaving the jungle last night after her eviction, Becky Vardy told Extra Camphost Joe Swash that she thought he was “fake”.
In camp, Amir and Jamie also doubted that Iain wanted to be voted off the show, as he has said, with Amir accusing him of “playing mind games”.
Amir has come in for criticism himself, though. Some viewers reckon he and some of the other campmates are bullying Iain.
