The Rolling Stones are keen to make a new record – but will Charlie share their wish?

They might have a combined age of 284, but The Rolling Stones have hinted they are planning another record.

Retirement isn’t quite nigh for Mick Jagger, 71, Keith Richards, 71, Ronnie Wood, 68, and 74-year-old Charlie Watts – instead, they are eyeing up studio time to make a full-length LP, which would be their first since A Bigger Bang in 2005.

When asked about the possibility of another album, Keef said: “Funny you should mention it. Just last week, the word ‘studio’ popped up while we were rehearsing. I said, ‘Well, let’s find a time. I’m ready’.”

The veteran band are currently touring North America, where they are playing songs from their 1971 album Sticky Fingers for the first time in a decade. Luckily for them and their fans, there’s been no report of stumbled lyrics or missed chords.

Despite having spent more than 50 years together, Ronnie said they have “never been closer”. He told Rolling Stone magazine: “I think it’s the best vibe ever within the band.”

Keith believes the death of Mick’s long-term girlfriend, designer L’Wren Scott last year, has made the band “more important” to the Jumpin’ Jack frontman, adding: “Mick went through that terrible thing and the band has become even more important to him because of that.”

Remarkable. Although is Charlie as keen for more?
