Ooooh, this sounds so good

The Sinner has been officially renewed for a season three – and there’s even more good news for fans of the crime drama.

The news of the kind-of-anthology series’ renewal was announced on Wednesday, as was the first casting announcement.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, White Collar‘s Matt Bomer has joined the third season in the lead role.

He’ll be playing Jamie, a Dorchester resident and expectant father who looks to Bill Pullman’s Dt. Harry Ambrose for support in the wake of an accident.

The third season is said to follow Detective Harry Ambrose as he begins a seemingly routine investigation into a tragic car accident in upstate New York.

He eventually ends up uncovering a hidden crime which will pull him into the most dangerous and the most disturbing case of his career.

Derek Simonds will return as the series’ show runner. He will also be an executive producer alongside season one star Jessica Biel, Michelle Purple, Charlie Gogolak, Willie Reale and Adam Bernstein.

The news comes a few months after The Sinner’s second season landed on Netflix.

Season two followed Detective Harry Ambrose, who gets lured back to his hometown in rural New York to assess an unsettling and heart wrenching crime: two parents have been murdered by their 11-year-old son, with no apparent motive.

As Ambrose realizes there’s nothing ordinary about the boy or where he came from, the investigation pulls him into the hidden darkness of his hometown.

He’s pitted against those who’ll stop at nothing to protect its secrets — and the mysterious Vera (Carrie Coon) who proves to be a complicated, enigmatic piece to this haunting puzzle.
