The Stig: I’m open to offers from Top Gear OR Jeremy Clarkson

Where will he end up?

The man most synonymous with the almost mythical figure of ‘The Stig’ says he would happily rejoin BBC’s Top Gear – or else be willing to defect to Jeremy Clarkson’s new show.

Ben Collins was revealed to be the Stig in 2010, during a court battle over his autobiography, titled The Man in the White Suit. Until then he had remained a man of great mystery – and huge speeds.

Now the 40-year-old stunt driver has confirmed he would be delighted to be part of either Chris Evans’ Top Gear or the new Amazon show fronted by Jeremy Clarkson , James May and Richard Hammond.

“I would love to [be part of either show] but I’ve not heard anything. I’ll wait and see,” explained Collins. “Who knows what the future will hold but I’ll be in and out of a car doing what I love doing most.”

Andy Wilman, Executive Producer of Clarkson’s new vehicle (pun intended), confirmed that the new show would include some kind of Stig-alike: “The three lads can drive properly and fast and will do so. But we do need a new character.”

A Top Gear insider also confirmed to the Mirror: “The Stig will feature in some way. He’s popular and has his own fan base.”

Where will Collins go? Does it actually matter who is inside that iconic white helmet? Time will tell…
