Are you having these choices?
When gems such Hey Arnold!, Rugrats, Earthworm Jim and CatDog don’t make the cut, you know the standards are ridiculously high.
To mark the launch of the new Sky Kids app, Sky have conducted a survey to determine which is the most popular kids TV show among parents and children in Ireland and the UK, with the race to the top proving to be very tight.
Of the 2,300 surveyed (1,150 kids and 1,150 adults), some 23% voted Scooby-Doo as their all time favourite show, pipping Tom and Jerry by a solitary one per cent into first place.
The era-transcending SpongeBob SquarePants and the adored Peppa Pig shared the spoils in third place with 17% of the vote, while Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom (?) make up the top five on 14%.
Teenage Mutants Ninja Turtles just miss out on a top half finish, amassing 13% of the votes, with Paw Patrol, Dora the Explorer and Horrible Histories taking up seventh, eighth and ninth position respectively, and Ben Ten, fittingly, starting the countdown in tenth place.
Interestingly, when children and adults were separated in the survey, there was just one switch around in the top two. The kids stayed loyal to Scooby-Doo on 25%, while their older peers promoted Tom and Jerry to the top of the pile, on 21%.
With 59% of the surveyed children saying that the main reason they re-watch their favourite shows being because of the interesting plot and characters, it’s easy to see why Scooby-Doo proved to be so popular.
