ROBOT WARS IS THE GREATEST SHOW ON TV…EVER!
We’re not even being hyperbolic, we mean every word. The reboot of the classic 90s show where robots kick seven shades of shit out of each other for our entertainment is even better than our 14-year-old selves could have hoped.
With the Olympics finished and the Premier League football over and done with for the weekend, we needed blood.
Thankfully the Robot Wars grand final provided that in spades with DIY automatons going head to head and smashing each other to smithereens.
Carbide, Shockwave, TR2, Apollo, Pulsar and Thor all went to head to be crowned the show’s first champions since it was axed more than a decade ago.
The final saw two group battles held with three of the robots going against each other, with the losing ‘bot getting the boot.
Then the remaining four fought it out for a place in the final – but it all came down to Carbide vs Apollo in the final battle.
Carbide is an absolute brick shithouse of a robot made of military-grade steel with a flail 80 times more powerful than a sniper’s bullet. It shredded the walls of the arena for Christ’s sake. No wonder everyone thought it was going to walk the final.
But it came up against Apollo – a robot capable of overturning five tonnes, having flipped three house robots in the last round.

But there could only be one Robot Wars winner – and it was Team Apollo flipping the script…literally, after it went to the judges’ decision.
They’re not even trained engineers and used to work at Pontin’s Holiday Camp together – but their robot beat the lot.
‘For three guys from a non-engineering background to win a show like this is crazy,’ said Dave Young
‘Nine years ago when we all met as Bluecoats we would never think this would happen.’
Fans just loved the whole bloody thing…
The #RobotWars grand final is seriously good. So much carnage! I really hope they get another series.

I have no idea what to do on a Sunday night now #RobotWars has finished. Suppose building a kick bot robot is the only smart idea!
