The North Remembers these.
With Season 7 fast approaching, we’re certain that Game of Thrones fans are becoming so desperate to see the first episode that they’re willing to flay their best friend, Ramsay Bolton style, just to get a quick glimpse.
Now that’s commitment!
With the latest trailer offering us a tantalising glimpse at what’s in store, we decided to take a look at the 5 highest rated episodes of the show according to IMDB users.
To begin with, there’s a tie in fifth place as five episodes share a collective rating of 9.7.
They are ‘The Door’ – who could ever forget the tragic demise of Hodor as the White Walkers descended on Bran and the Three Eyed Raven?
We also have the stunning episode ‘Blackwater’ when Stannis’ attack on King’s Landing was thwarted via wildfire. ‘The Lion and the Rose’ also places highly, probably because it saw Joffrey choke to death and people also loved ‘The Laws of Gods and Men’- an episode which provided the finest piece of acting in Game of Thrones.

5) The Mountain and the Viper
Rating: 9.7
Season 4, Episode 8
Plot: Theon is sent by Ramsey to Moat Cailin to convince a garrison of Ironborn soldiers to surrender, but things take a sadistic turn. North of The Wall, the Wildlings slaughter Mole’s Town but Ygritte spares Gilly and her baby.
In Mereen, after it’s discovered that Robert Baratheon has pardoned Jorah and sent him on a mission to spy on Daenerys , he’s expelled him from the city.
All of this drama pales in comparison though to the bloodcurdling fight between Oberyn and the Mountain as the Prince of Dorne does his very best to make Gregor Clegane confess that he raped and killed his sister Elia Martell.
Famous for: The most gruesome death in Game of Thrones history.

Rating 9.9, 55,454 votes cast
Season 3, Episode 9
Plot: Robb, his wife Talisa and mother Catelyn arrive for the marriage of Edmure Tully to one of Walder Frey’s daughters. There’s tension in the air but will Robb’s apology for not marrying one of Walder Frey’s daughters be enough to smooth things over?
The festivities continue into the night but The Lord of the Crossing has something very special planned for his guests. Elsewhere, Arya and The Hound arrive at the Twins but they’re too late to do anything but watch on in horror. Daenerys meanwhile orders an attack on the Yunkai’i based on information provided by Daario, while Jon Snow is forced to choose between the Watch and Ygritte.
Famous for: The Lannisters send their regards.
3) Hardhome
Rating 9.9, 59,710 votes cast
Season 5, Episode 8
Plot: In Braavos, Arya is finally learning what it means to be a faceless killer as she kills without remorse or compassion. In Meereen, Daenerys has a big decision to make on the fates of Ser Jorah and Tyrion while Sansa learns some important information about her younger brothers from Theon.
Roose Bolton is busy finalising his battle plans for the imminent attack by Stannis’ troops but things are looking precarious for Cersei in King’s Landing after the High Sparrow’s case against her builds momentum.
The real action happens north of The Wall though as Jon Snow and Tormund Giantsbane arrive at the Wildling town of Hardhome for an important meeting. While some of the freefolk are happy to accept Jon’s offer of land in the south, many do not. Before they can leave however, hell literally breaks loose in the best 15 minutes of TV that you’re likely to see.
Famous for: Here’s how they make TV gold dragonglass.

2) The Winds of Winter
Rating 9.9, 94,143 votes cast
Season 6, Episode 10
Plot: Daenerys and her dragons probably couldn’t match what Cersei had planned for the Faith Militant and every other enemy of House Lannister.
As for the North, Jon Snow/Targaryen has solidified his status as ‘King in The North’ but relations are slightly frayed with his younger sister Sansa.
Regarding the other Stark children, Bran discovers a long-kept secret and Lord Frey bit off more than he could chew when dealing with Arya. Winter is here.
Famous for: Conformation of R+L = J

Plot: In Merreen, the Masters return with an armada as they plot to usurp Daenerys and end her reign. How wrong they were!
This is just the warm up though as Jon Snow leads his army to reclaim Winterfell from the tyranny of Ramsay Bolton.
Truth be told, 99% of films can’t match the spectacle, drama and sheer jaw-dropping action sequences that Miguel Sapochnik directed in what’s rightfully heralded as the finest action sequence that has ever been filmed on TV.
Famous for: Ramsay’s death was amazing, but what about this moment?
