The new series has a lot to live up to – Black Mirror has already given us such acclaimed episodes as ‘The National Anthem’, ‘The Entire History of You’ and ‘San Junipero’. Yet these two instalments look set to join the cannon.
One of them is ‘US Callister’, which looks at first glance like a Star Trek parody, but this being Black Mirror, is something far, far more.
USS Callister blew me away. I didn't get regular anxiety, I got super anxiety #BlackMirror4

USS Callister is the PERFECT take on “angry white geek guy” attitude in sci-fi fandoms. The sexism! The entitlement! The obsession w/freezing social attitudes in the ‘60s when they would’ve had all power by virtue of their gender & race! It’s so horrifically accurate!#BlackMirror

Finished watching USS Callister and it’s definitely going to be one of my favorite episodes this season. #BlackMirror4

The other episode is the dating-app satire ‘Hang The DJ’, which people are comparing to ‘San Junipero’, the incredible 1980s love story that was many people’s pick of season 3.
