This is how to record your old VHS cassette tapes onto a computer (Video)

Back to the future...

Ben Kenyon

Many moons ago, there was a thing called VHS.

To the Dark Age denizens of the 80s and 90s this was the cutting edge of technology – forget iPads and HD TVs – you could record stuff off the telly onto a giant cassette.

Proper space-age stuff back then.

Times have moved on and technology has upgraded, leaving the VHS an obsolete relic.

You’ve probably got a stack of casettes at home with your parents’ wedding on, some weird 80s porno or that time you taped Match of the Day when United won the title.

All these wonderful memories trapped on VHS no matter how many times you try and squeeze it into the DVD player.

But before you throw them out, the guys at CNET have put this video together showing you show to rescue them from obscurity.

All you need is a VCR,  some crappy VHS tapes and a fancy converter cable.

You can then store the videos on your computer for future generations to wonder how the hell we coped watching TV in such poor quality.

Enjoy…
