Big things are expected of the new FIFA 17 game. Very big things.
It’s not so much an evolution of the game – but a complete revolution.
The way it looks, the way it feels and the way it plays have all jumped up a level from the 2016 incarnation of the game – you only have to compare the graphics to see the difference.
The switch from the Ignite gaming engine to Frostbite has made FIFA 17 a whole new ball game from the way players move and interact to the way you orchestrate your set pieces and attack.
JOE was lucky enough to get to test it out at an EA Sports event in London and boy was it good.
But after having a bash on the new game it’s like we’ve been given a hit of gaming heroin and now we’re having to go cold turkey until the official release date on September 29…or so we thought.
Like us, you’re probably absolutely itching to get your hands on the game, have a go, beat your mates and try out FIFA’s new story mode The Journey – but having to wait until almost October is tantamount to torture.
It turns out that you might not quite have to wait until Autumn to have go – in fact you will be able to get your hands around a console controller in just a few weeks.
A UK gaming festival will be the first official place fans can play the game for real a month ahead of the official release.
All you have to do is go along to the annual Insomia58 Festival at Birmingham’s NEC Arena from August 26 to 29.
James Salmon, Senior Product Marketing Manager for EA Sports FIFA in the UK said:
“FIFA 17 will truly revamp the series with the introduction of the Frostbite Engine, the same engine behind the likes of the Battlefield series and the upcoming Mass Effect: Andromeda, so we’re really looking forward to fans from all over the world getting their hands on this year’s edition.
“The UK is obviously a huge market for the FIFA series and so we are delighted, through Insomnia58, to be able to offer UK players the first chance to come and try out the latest installment.”
We’ll see you at the front of the queue.
