A-ha!
Alan Partridge is arguably the greatest creation in the history of British comedy. Across The Day Today, Knowing Me Knowing You, I’m Alan Partridge, Alpha Papa and Mid Morning Matter, Steve Coogan has constantly adapted the character to different formats, sticking with the times, but remaining quintessentially Alan. He’s become a byword for any dinosaur-like, out-of-touch, old male TV presenter.
After making several shows for Sky, Alan is about to return to BBC, where he first started. Not much is known about This Time With Alan Partridge, but it is due to air early next year and we are very excited.
On Friday, Steve Coogan appeared at the Edinburgh TV Festival and showed the first ever clip from the show. Sadly, it is not online yet or has been released to the public, but the reaction to it has been brilliant – with those who saw it saying it was very, very funny, and up there with the best ever Partridge.
A LOT of laughter for the clip of Alan’s new show #EdTVFest

Just watched a world exclusive clip from ‘This Time with Alan Partridge’ which features a very funny Irish farmer doppelgänger for Alan. Coming to BBC1 early 2019. #EdTVFest

A few camera phone photos of the show have appeared online, and it looks like the scene shown was riffing on The One Show.

Very little else is known about the show, though it has been confirmed that Tim Key and Felicity Montague will both be returning, as Sidekick Simon and Alan’s PA Lynn respectively.
