8 classic TV characters that need their own Netflix revival right now

Why stop with Gilmore Girls?

Carl Kinsella

We love TV.

In fact, there are few things we love more than TV. Even so, there are times when modern day TV doesn’t quite live up to the TV of the past.

Sometimes we find ourselves missing our old friends who have since moved on bigger and better things, like a Hollywood career. With this in mind, we’ve put together a list of eight wonderful characters we’d love to see make a return to our television screens.

John Locke

Hard as it is for us all to admit, Lost lost its way just a little bit towards the end of its run. The show rudderless once JJ Abrams jumped ship to conquer Hollywood and once the time-travelling began, all hope was lost. One of the shining lights of the show, however, was Terry O’Quinn’s portrayal of John Locke and, later, the Man in Black.

We’d love to see this character back on-screen, matching wits with Ben Linus once more.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer

Buffy The Vampire Slayer, for all its serious moments, was often an exercise in rather frivolous ass-kicking where ugly bad guys got beaten into oblivion by Buffy and her wonderfully likeable mates. Characters on TV these days tend to be quite a lot meaner than the happy-go-lucky Sunnydale… and god knows they don’t have the problems Buffy had. Bring her back.

Zack Morris

A cultural icon of his time. This man was able to freeze time, marry Kelly Kapowski and make that comically enormous phone look cool. Not all superheroes were capes.

Omar Little

Considering The Wire feature such heavyweight badasses as Marlo Stanfield, Stringer Bell and Avon Barksdale – it’s pretty impressive that stick-up man Omar Little still got the best one-liners. “Come at the king, you best not miss” has become ingrained in society by this stage and we wish there was still a character on TV with Omar’s wit, charm and skill with a shotgun.

Karl Fletcher

Dream Team is sorely missed. The outrageous plot-lines of intra-squad homicide and massive bus explosions were glorious, but just think what a fictional TV show could do with a Mario Balotelli-style character? Or a Jamie Vardy? Dream Team needs to come back and shine a ridiculous light on a game that’s growing ever more ridiculous by the season.

Karl Fletcher for manager.

Frasier & Niles Crane

Before we were set upon by the Two And A Half Mens of this world, we could all laugh at Frasier and Niles Crane – a higher calibre of  buffoon. The bedroom farces of Frasier and Niles are sorely missed. It would make a nice change to laugh at idiots who think they’re smart, rather actual full-in idiots.

Corey & Topenga

Boy Meets World’s Corey and Topanga. Relationship goals before relationship goals were a thing. We need these guys back on TV to give the rest of us losers hope again.

Father Dougal

Father Ted creators Graham Linehan and Arthur Mathews resisted many attempts to create a spin-off of the show after Dermot Morgan’s death, a decision worthy of great respect. Still, in an ideal world, we’d love to see Ardal O’Hanlon reprise his role as Father Dougal just one more time.
