Tom Hardy and Ridley Scott look set to team up for a new military epic

Paul Moore

They worked together on Black Hawk Down. This could be exceptional.

Given the fact that Tom Hardy only made his on-screen debut in 2001 with Band of Brothers, it’s a sign of his talent that he has quickly amassed a CV that’s incredibly impressive.

It wasn’t until his breakthrough performance in Nicolas Winding Refn’s superb drama Bronson that Hollywood took notice of Hardy’s skill as an actor,  but since then, he has seen his career absolutely skyrocket with some truly memorable roles.

Mad Max: Fury Road, Warrior, The Dark Knight Rises, Locke, Inception, Legend and The Revenant are just some of his more famous features. All this without mentioning his TV work in Peaky Blinders and Taboo.

One person that definitely saw Hardy’s early promise was the iconic director Ridley Scott. Film fans might remember one of Hardy’s earliest performances as Twombly in Scott’s modern warfare masterpiece, Black Hawk Down.

Given that the director is one of the finest filmmakers of all time, we’re delighted to see that the pair are set to reunite on War Party, a Navy Seal drama that’s being funded by Netflix.

The Hollywood Reporter have stated that Andrew Dominik, best known for the massively underrated The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, will co-write and direct with Scott’s company, Scott Free Productions, handling production.

If you’re a fan of both Hardy and Scott’s work, you’ll be happy to hear that you don’t have long to wait until their next projects arrive in the cinema. The actor will be starring in Christopher Nolan’s WW2 epic Dunkirk while Scott is returning to space with Alien: Covenant.

We can’t wait to see these two men working together again.
