A web rumour…
Spiderman actor and rising Hollywood star Tom Holland is reportedly gunning to swap his web-shooters for a whalther PP7 as everyone’s favourite movie spy and questionable male role model, James Bond.
Holland and his friends got candid for GQ where Jacob Batalon, who plays Ned in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, shed some light on his mate’s future aspirations.
“He talks about being James Bond a lot,” said Holland’s co-star.
“A lot a lot.”
No Time to Die premiered earlier this year and marked the end of Daniel Craig’s tenure as 007. Rumours have been spiralling for months, with Idris Elba, Henry Cavill and Tom Hardy all popping up across the internet as possible replacements.
However there’s a new kid on the block – emphasis on the ‘kid’ part.
We may be biased, but we hear there are some great suggestions in this post.
Holland made his big break in the MCU as Peter Parker and has widely been praised for a more comic-accurate depiction of the web-slinging hero.
Since his first appearance in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, Holland has popped up in some of the biggest blockbusters, appearing alongside acting veterans like Will Smith, Rami Malek, Emma Thompson and Octavia Spencer.

Holland’s acting chops are without question – but you can’t help but think of Peter Parker as the super spy and not Holland himself.
Twitter agrees, in part.
“It’s James Bond not fucking Spy Kids,” wrote one user, while another said, “Tom you’re a twink”.

Others are entirely behind the idea, primarily because we are yet to see a younger Bond who isn’t close to whipping bad guys with his walker.

One fan wrote: “Tom would make an amazing bond, he’s British, good looking and young enough to play him for decades not to mention being super popular.”
A second said: “I really like Tom Holland as an actor, we’ve barely seen him do anything away from Marvel except from Cherry (which I really liked) and a few other movies… I’m looking forward to Uncharted too, so anyone that says he couldn’t pull off Bond forgets that he could be a younger bond.”

Perhaps Holland is too young to play Bond but maybe that’s exactly what the franchise needs? After seven decades of copy and pasted men, perhaps some new blood will revitalise the genre.
