People keep telling us their problem with heavy metal is that it’s just too…heavy.
It seems the good people at The Tonight Show were listening too, as they got one of music’s most inoffensive men, Ed Sheeran, to try his hand at classics from Iron Maiden and Limp Bizkit.
Promoting a fake heavy metal covers album in a new sketch, Sheeran offers up pared-down versions of ‘Run to the Hills’ and ‘Break Stuff’, without so much as an electric guitar in sight.
He even had time to try his hand at hardcore rap, with an acoustic cover of ‘Paranoid’ by Ty Dolla Sign.

Sheeran clearly has no issue with poking fun at his butter-wouldn’t-melt reputation, and we applaud him for that.
Perhaps he can bring along his mate Wayne Rooney for the next rendition…
