Niall Horan and Sam Allardyce got physical on the sideline during Soccer Aid

Clash of the titans

Conan Doherty

This fight was only going in One Direction…

Niall Horan and Sam Allardyce’s bad blood has been bubbling for years now but, on Sunday, the pair finally sorted their differences.

The two found themselves on opposite sides of proceedings as England beat the Rest of the World 3-2 at Soccer Aid 2016 thanks partly to a Roberto Carlos-esque strike from The Only Way is Essex’s Mark Wright.

Ronaldinho did his best to embarrass his opponents but, at the end of the day, he was playing alongside rugby players.

The Brazilian’s magic did entice game show presenter Ben Shepherd to lunge at Dimitar Berbatov and earn himself a red card – the first dismissal since the inception of the charity game.

But it had already kicked off on the touchline as the teams came back onto the pitch at the beginning of the second half.

England manager Allardyce and Rest of the World assistant coach/player Niall Horan came face-to-face and the One Direction singer didn’t back down despite the considerable weight difference.

He should have though.

They say you should never meet your heroes, but we bet Horan is satisfied that he at least finally got to meet Big Sam.
