The BAFTAs can be a serious, stuffy affair, but you can always rely on one or two to liven things up.
This year’s ‘steal the show’ moment was down to Rebel Wilson.
As we know, the show’s host Stephen Fry has also grabbed headlines, which has consequently seen him throw a tantrum and quit Twitter. (He’ll be back).
But about Rebel. The Australian actress, 35, presented Mark Rylance’s Best Supporting Actor award at the BAFTAs on Sunday.
Her controversial speech ticked a number of boxes; she called the Oscars ‘racist’, offended the transgender community and made a beeline for Idris Elba.
Rebel started strong, then she quipped “Sorry Idris Elba you’re making me a bit nervous, I’m just psychologically programmed to want chocolate on Valentine’s Day.”
This is the speech that’s divided opinion. (Personally, I think she’s a scream).
