It was pretty weird to see him on TV not talking about cars.
Jeremy Clarkson proved a hit with fans when he made his first appearance as the host of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire last night.
The ITV quiz show returned on its 20th anniversary with Clarkson taking on the role previously filled by Chris Tarrant.
Although there have been some minor rule changes – including an end to cash cheques being written out by the host – as Clarkson himself put it: “In essence it’s still the same. Answer 15 questions correctly and you win one million pounds.”
He also took the opportunity to make jokes about Donald Trump, Richard Hammond and even to warn contestants not to ‘start coughing’ – in reference to the show’s infamous cheating scandal.
Fans were quick to heap praise on him following his appearance.
Coughing jokes … Trump jokes … Yorkshire accents 👌🏽 Jeremy Clarkson has already nailed it! #WhoWantsToBeAMillionaire

The new incarnation of the show sees the host take a more active role in proceedings, with a new lifeline introduced that allows the contestant to ask the Jeremy for his view on the question.
The contestant is also able to place a “safety net” that means if they answer a question incorrectly, they won’t go home empty handed.
All of which is good if you want to see people taking money home, though, hopefully it won’t bring an end to the full-on ROFL moments when somebody answers the first question wrong.
