If Bond producer Barbara Broccoli keeps her cards close to her chest about the future of the spy series, the next best mouthpiece is a former 007 agent.
Pierce Brosnan – the fifth actor to be cast as the iconic secret agent – has shared his thoughts about the next James Bond, even discussing 007’s sexuality.
When asked if he could picture a gay Bond, Brosnan said: “Sure. Why not?” before adding: “Actually, I don’t know how it would work. I don’t think Barbara would allow a gay Bond to happen in her lifetime. But it would certainly make for interesting viewing.”
He added to Details: “Let’s start with a great black actor being James Bond.
“Idris Elba certainly has the physicality, the charisma, the presence. But I think Daniel (Craig) will be there for a while yet.”
Spectre, out October 26, is Craig’s fourth appearance as the Bond.
