BBC are rebooting the kids TV show.
It looks like Mackenzie Crook will be coming back to British TV to play a rebooted version of kid’s TV favourite Worzel Gummidge.
The 46-year old will take on the role – first played by Jon Pertwee – almost four decades after it was canceled.
The show was based on a book series by Barbara Euphan Todd and originally aired on Channel 4. Despite having 31 episodes aired it became a cult classic.
A source told The Sun: “Mackenzie has been working on this for some time. He’s written most of the script and pitched it to the BBC who were keen and are now officially on-board.
“It is not a continuation of the old story. Worzel is a legendary kids TV character and Mackenzie is keen to make sure the series does it justice.”
As you’re probably aware, Mackenzie Crook made a name for himself in British incarnation of The Office – before crossing the pond for The Pirates Of The Caribbean and Game Of Thrones.
His latest role was  in Amazon Prime’s epic historical drama Britannia.
