Yippee Ki-Yay! There’s a Die Hard prequel on the way

Now with 50% more grit

Kevin Beirne

Just like John McClane, the Die Hard franchise just won’t die.

We all would have been more than happy to leave things as a trilogy, with the series going out on the high that was ‘Die Hard: With a Vengeance’ – generally accepted as one of the best actions films of all time.

But just like Karl at the end of the first movie, the series was inexplicably given new life in 2007 with the surprisingly not terrible ‘Live Free or Die Hard’. Unfortunately, that was soon followed up with the critically-panned ‘A Good Day to Die Hard’.

We thought that was finally the end but, just like Gruber brothers, new films keep popping up and apparently there is now a prequel titled ‘Die Hard: Day One’ in the works.

The film would be an origin story of how John McClane became such a die-hard badass during his time as an NYPD cop in the late 1970s.

While a reboot means that someone other than Bruce Willis should take the role of John McClane, we wouldn’t totally rule out Willis’s involvement just yet…
