It’s yet to be confirmed whether he just returned from travelling in south-east Asia
Former High School Musical actor Zac Efron has posted a photo on his Instagram that shows he has braided the dreadlocks he began sporting last month.
His emergence as a white guy with dreadlocks came on Instagram in early July and lead to a widespread backlash online – with people accusing him of “cultural appropriation” and “racial insensitivity”.

The anger at Efron’s new barnet followed the chastization of other white celebrities like Justin Bieber and Little Mix’s Jesy Nelson, who sported similar “black” hairstyles.
Despite pissing a whole bunch of people off, he’s kept with the style, although he’s now braiding it.

Whichever side of the culture wars you sit on, you’ll likely think Efron looks a bit of a prick. As did the people in the Instagram comment section.
“Is Zac going through a midlife crisis?” one Instagram commenter said of the 30-year-old actor. Another added: “Please tell Zac to get rid of those dread.”
Efron has recently been filming a movie based around Ted Bundy’s life. His transformation into the vicious serial killer is equally as terrifying as his apparent transformation into the type of person that would corner you about their three months abroad.
He’s shared images on Instagram of him on the set of Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, including a picture of him with his female co-star Kaya Scodelario. Bundy was responsible for the murders of over 30 people before his execution in 1989.
