Amazing! We all know a colleague that would love this.
Ever pulled a sickie from work because you spent the previous night watching the Champions League with a few too many pints? No, us neither (cough, cough)
After waking up with a hangover and seriously questioning the need to go to work, we wager that you’ve thought to yourself ‘if only I could have a genuine – and guilt-free – reason to take a day off work because of my hangover’.
Well, DICE, a London based ticketing firm, has recently introduced a very cool staff perk. Hangover days. Fear not because these hangover days are all legally stipulated in any full-time contract.
Basically, anyone that works for the company is allowed to take up to four hangover days a year. There’s one condition though, the night of partying has to be work related in order to take one of these special days off.
To avail of this perk, staff just have to send a WhatsApp to their boss with ‘music’, ‘beers’ and ‘sick’ emojis. After that, the only thing they’ve got to do is sit on the couch, binge-watch Narcos and enjoy a dirty fry.
Speaking to Grazia, Phil Hutcheon, founder of DICE explained: “All our team live for music and some of the best deals in the industry happen after a gig. We trust each other and want people to be open if they’re out late experiencing live music. There is no need for a fake sick bug.”
In 2016 alone, 137 million working days were lost due to sickness, with the average worker taking four days off sick. Imagine if you could do that without feeling guilty?
If you’re on good terms with your boss, we suggest floating this idea to them. It needs to happen!
