Arnold Schwarzenegger forged his awesome physique in iron.
Every iconic image of Arnie from his Mr Olympia bodybuilding days he was smashing huge weights.
So when asked what his two most essential exercises are during a live Q&A on Periscope, JOE was amazed to hear the answer.
It wasn’t a plate-laden barbell that sculpted that huge chest, or the lat-pulls downs that gave him awesome width.
The two exercises he chose as his must-have gym moves were the humble chin-up and the run-of-the-mill press up.
The Terminator star said: “The exercises I would do are push-ups and chin-ups because they are both bodyweight exercises and I’m a firm believer that you should always first do things with your own bodyweight.
“When you read Arnold’s Education of a Bodybuilder, which came out in 1977, you will see.
“If it is dips, if it’s leg raises, if it’s chin-ups or squats they are all very healthy things to do and you body can do the weight.”
Proof that you don’t need that flash gym membership or top equipment to work out.
