Ed Sheeran is doing pretty well for himself.
Having recently returned from his year off from touring, his two new singles have racked up over 13 million streams inside 24 hours. History making stuff.
After the success of his last album and tour, you can’t blame Ed for taking a good chunk of his 12-month break to enjoy himself. And judging by his comments in a recent interview on Signal 1 radio, he certainly did that. Exercising rarely, a diet that included lots of pizza and beer saw Ed tip the scales at 15st.
Fortunately, the 25-year-old’s girlfriend Cherry Seaborn was at hand to help him shed three and a half stone in time for his return to work.
“I stopped touring and carried on my diet of pizza and beer. Suddenly I didn’t fit in anything. I was like, “All my clothes have shrunk.””
Speaking about his fitness regime, he said:
“I did 10 minutes a day without fail – intervals of 30 seconds sprinting and 30 jogging.
“The key is to not miss a day, so you don’t have to do an hour.”
Ed’s newly released music – songs ‘Shape of You’ and ‘Castle on the Hill’ – has seen him eclipse One Direction’s Spotify Day 1 UK and global streaming records. Shape of You has reached 6.8million streams with Castle on the Hill not far behind with 6.1million.
