It’s not dirty; it’s a medical necessity
Researchers have said that men should be ejaculating at least 21 times a month in order to lower the risk of prostate cancer.
But this isn’t some ‘researcher’ who is actually just one very thirsty man. Instead, researchers at Harvard University published a journal on the study in European Urology. The study used 31,925 men who provided their average monthly ejaculation figures.
The researchers found that those who ejaculated frequently also cut their chances of developing prostate cancer by a third.
“We evaluated whether ejaculation frequency throughout adulthood is related to prostate cancer risk in a large US-based study,” wrote the study’s authors.
They continued: “We found that men reporting higher compared to lower ejaculatory frequency in adulthood were less likely to be subsequently diagnosed with prostate cancer.”
Perhaps lockdown was a good thing for our health; after all, there wasn’t much to do besides baking banana bread and spending intimate time with ourselves.
“These findings provide additional evidence of a beneficial role of more frequent ejaculation throughout adult life in the aetiology of PC [prostate cancer], particularly for low-risk disease,” the authors said.
But if a reduced cancer risk was not enough motivation to start waving your wand more, then there are also other benefits to reap.
Masturbation allows you to not only release bodily tension but also relax and decompress, hence why many men find themselves playing with themselves before bed.
So next time you think you have been doing the deed a little too much, just think of it as being proactive in taking care of your health.
