Russian world champion weightlifter Dmitry Klokov is bossing another new sport (video)

Klok these lifts...

There seems to be no end to the powers of Russian world champion weightlifter Dmitry Klokov.

Becoming a world champion and Olympic silver medallist weightlifter – check.

Beating quadruple CrossFit Games winner Rich Froning’s time on the horrific 100kg ‘Isabel’ workout – check.

Cleaning up at a Russian bodybuilding show with his ridiculously-shredded physique – check.

Well next on Klokov’s list was taking America’s National Pro Grid League by storm after being signed by the Baltimore Anthem team.

In case you’ve never heard of the NPGL, it’s kind of like CrossFit, the Olympics, a gym session and one of those office team building days all rolled into one.

The league sees teams like New York Rhinos and Boston Irons, comprising of seven men and seven women, compete against each other in 11 fitness races with weights, gymnastics, cardio and bodyweight exercises.

Klokov’s Baltimore debut went pretty well – he ploughed through the clean and jerk ladder like a man possessed, reaching 270lbs but failing on the last 285lbs bar. His expert front squatting put more points on the board.

But not even the monstrous strength of Klokov could stop Baltimore slumping to a 21-15 defeat against the Rhinos.

Maybe he is human after all.
