The perfect time to have sex has been discovered. Thanks science…

Afternoon delight's off the cards then...

Ben Kenyon

This is good news for all you early risers (wink, wink).

Early morning, or approximately 5.48am, is apparently the best time to do what Marvin Gaye intended (get it on) according to new research. It’s all down to our body clocks, apparently.

Science says our mood and energy levels depend on a number of factors such as our body temperature, blood pressure and hormone levels – which are collectively called our circadian rhythms.

The male and female sex drive peaks at different times (as you may know if you’ve ever come home from the pub and tried it on) and devastatingly the time window where the two are in sync is depressingly small.

Testosterone levels, which boosts sexual desire, are at their highest in the morning, as are energy levels and it’s no surprise that people are generally in a good mood first thing in the morning as they are less burdened down with their problems.

All of these things make the morning a good time for some wholesome lovin’.

Getting up early for a rowdy romp is also the best time for both partners to orgasm, leaving you most likely to start the day with a smile on your face.

As well as all these factors, sunlight also stimulates the hypothalamus which increases testosterone levels, further boasting your chances of syncing up with your better half.

That’s a lot of reasons to wake up with the sun, so set the alarm and start the day feeling on top of the world.
