This is what happens to your body when you quit smoking

Your health improves within weeks.

Carl Kinsella

Have you ever tried to quit smoking?

Giving up a nicotine addiction and ditching the cigarettes is the one of the toughest challenges someone can undertake. As the official government website succinctly puts it, “quitting is hard“. Withdrawal kicks in, coping with stress becomes harder and you start to get cravings.

However, thousands of people beat the addiction everyone year, and will tell you that once you’ve overcome the addiction, it’s also totally worth it.

A new video created by creative team Health Hacks, gives a graphic representation of all the changes that occur within the body once a person gives up smoking.

Not only do your clothes smell better, but blood circulation and lung function improve also.

After one year smoke-free, a person’s risk of heart disease is cut in half, and after five years the risk of stroke falls to the same level as that of a non-smoker.

After ten years your risk of lung cancer is half as high as that of an active smoker.

Check out the video below for a fuller list of benefits you can pick up by putting the cigarette down. And if you’d like to know more about giving up cigarettes, give the Smoke Free website a browse.
