ASDA has launched vegan hot cross buns and they look really tasty

Kyle Picknell

Just in time for Easter.

Whilst vegans have long since had non-dairy alternatives to chocolate eggs, they’ve never had the opportunity to dabble in hot cross buns, a staple for many during the Easter period.

Fortunately ASDA are now selling a vegan version free from dairy, gluten and egg.

They’re approved by the Vegan Society and made out of vegetable oils and rice flour, along with the more traditional currants, raisins, orange and lemon peel.

You can pick up a pack of four for £2 from selected stores.

The move seems to be part of a recent trend as brands look to widen their range of vegan products to match the growing number of people choosing the lifestyle.

Last month Goodfella’s also released the first mainstream frozen vegan pizza.
