A Burger King advert has been removed following criticism online
Burger King New Zealand have removed an advert which shows people trying to eat a burger with oversized red chopsticks following criticism on social media.
The fast-food chain was advertising the launch of a new Vietnamese burger, that they said would “take your taste buds all the way to Ho Chi Minh City.”
According to The Guardian, the ad was quickly deleted, and Burger King has since issued an apology, saying it was “insensitive and does not reflect our brand values regarding diversity and inclusion.”

“Chopsticks are hilarious right?” tweeted Maria Mo, a New Zealander who was among the first to condemn the advert online.
Some people on social media have compared it to the racism row faced by fashion brand Dolce & Gabbana after they posted videos of a Chinese model eating Italian food with chopsticks in 2018, as part of an ad campaign.
