Poundland have launched their own bigger, chunkier version of Toblerone

When the people behind Toblerone announced that they were making it smaller, the flames of outrage were sparked.

“How dare they?” the chocolate lovers of Great Britain cried. “This is ridiculous. Yes, the only time we ever eat Toblerone is at Christmas or if we’re bored in the duty free at Heathrow, but that is not the point!

“Toblerone should be big, chunky chunks of chocolate, not this metre-spaced bullshit they’re serving up these days!”

Those weren’t exact quotes, but it summed up the national mood. At the risk of getting you all hot and bothered on a hot and bothersome day, let’s revisit the controversy.

What a travesty. Anyway, let’s not open up old wounds. It’s too hot for that, man.

The good news is that Poundland have stepped up to the mark and produced their own version of Toblerone, called Twin Peaks – nods to the David Lynch fans – and it costs just £1.

What’s so good about it? It weighs a tasty 180g. As you’ll remember, Toblerone reduced the weight of their bars from 170g to 150g, meaning that you get more choc for your buck with a Twin Peaks.
