Not to sound like a Peter Kay routine, but who remembers Prawn Cocktail Quavers?
Did you grow up in the 1990s? Do you miss a time when there were only four TV channels, when using the internet made this noise, and Quavers came in several different flavours other than cheese?
Well, we can’t take you back to that time when you were young and free and didn’t have to worry about paying bills or going to work, but we do have some good news for you: Prawn Cocktail and Salt & Vinegar Quavers are back in stores.
“We know how much Quavers mean to the nation and there’s no denying the love for the retro flavours having been inundated with requests and petitions to bring them back over the years,” said Will Robinson from Walkers.
“So, we’ve finally given the nation what it wants with both Prawn Cocktail and Salt & Vinegar hitting the shelves.”
Here is an advert announcing the original release of Salt & Vinegar Quavers back in the 1990s, featuring a beautifully animated cartoon dog voiced by Lenny Henry.
Quavers were first introduced in 1968. They were originally made by Smiths but are now produced by Walkers.
As well as cheese, salt & vinegar, and prawn cocktail flavours, there have also been cheese & onion, bacon, Chinese spicy beef, ketchup, and sweet & sour variants sold at various points over the years. None of those are scheduled to return at the moment though.
