Brexit strikes again, but this time at a Brexiteer

Brexit has struck again, this time at the very lifeblood of British culture – Weatherspoons.

The restaurant and pub franchise is the latest business to see a loss of stock due to the combination of Brexit supply chain issues and the pandemic. Nando’s, KFC, Subway, and supermarket shelves have all fallen victim.

The pub chain is beginning to see popular beers’ stocks plummet due to a “lack of lorry drivers and strike action”.

One Twitter user shared a notice on the door of his local, which read: “We regret to inform you that we are out of stock of Carling, Coors and Bud Light. Due to supply issues regards to [a] lack of lorry drivers and strike action which are out of our control”.

In response to the post, Wetherspoon spokesman Eddie Gershon told indy100: “We are experiencing some supply problems with both Carling and Coors, which means that some pubs do not have the products available.

“We apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused. We know that the brewers are trying to resolve the issue.”

“#TimMartin who advocated for Brexit, whose pub chain printed 200,000 beer mats bearing a message arguing for Britain to leave the E… Now facing staff & supply shortages So how’s #Brexit working out for you so far Tim? #wetherspoons” asked one Twitter user.

A regular Edgar Allan Poe tweeted: “There was a pub owner called Tim Did something exceedingly dim He backed Brexit, it’s clear Now his pubs have no beer But I do not feel sorry for him.”
