England returns to the pub after months away

JOE

The pubs are open again

After four long months, a number of English pubs reopened at the weekend with social distancing measures in place.

It was estimated that as many as 15 million pints were served on Saturday, as some pubs allowed punters in from as early as 6am. While many people expected scenes of chaos across the country’s pubs, it actually went a little more how Boris Johnson had hoped.

The vast majority of Brits were in fact well behaved as they tasted their first proper pints in months and felt, for the first time in a long, long while, felt a slight degree of normality.
