Going out when you don’t drink can sometimes be a struggle.
Pubs and bars rarely offer great savings on a pint of your preferred soft drink, and without the proper social lubrications some outings can leave your average teetotaler feeling a bit… bored.
Luckily help is at hand with the JOE guide to good nights out for those who don’t drink.
No matter what your reason for staying off booze, here are some cool places up and down the country for you to check out
Because being teetotal doesn’t mean you have to miss out on a good time.
For those wanting chill vibes
Redemption Bar is an alcohol free bar in West London serving “health conscious food and drink.” Sounds like something from a sixth form school trip, turns out to be one of the more interesting places to hang out if you ever find yourself at a loose end in the nice side of Londontown.
Five pence a minute. That’s the only charge in this cool Manchester lounge space where you pay for your time inside, rather than the food and drinks you enjoy.
Another community space in Manchester, Nexus is regarded as one of the chillest places to hang around in the city. Good, lowkey vibes.
For those looking for a fun social activity
Flight Club Darts, Old Street, London
Someone made a bar dedicated to darts. No, really. Flight Club is a bar right on the end of Shoreditch packing a number of high tech darts boards that up to 12 people play on at a time. Order a lemonade and go get your Van Gerwen on.
Bounce – Farringdon & Shoreditch, London
Bounce made ping pong cool. Taking table tennis out of the YMCAs, the bars offer something different from the usual “sit around a table and argue about crisps” nights out. After a few trips you’ll be wanting to practise your table tennis skills at home in preparation.
All Star Lanes – Various locations, London & Manchester
Kick it old school and go bowling for your next dry night out. All Star Lanes boast all the good stuff you remember about bowling parties when you were a teenager, just without the sticky floors, dodgy bowling shoes and awkward crush you had back when you were 13.
