It must be the dawn of epic mini movie music videos.
That was quite a mouthful, right? Epic. Mini. Movie. Music. Videos.
After recently pointing out to some friends of mine that they really don’t make music videos like they used to – think 30 Seconds To Mars’ “Hurricane”, Puff Daddy’s “Victory”, Busta Rhymes & Janet Jackson’s “What’s It Gonna Be?” – it was as if the music Gods heard me and delivered to my inbox a couple of superb videos in the space of a few of days.
First there was the beautifully shot new Imagine Dragons video for “Next To Me”, directed by Mark Pellington (U2, Pearl Jam), and now there’s the futuristically stunning new video from Arcade Fire.
Directed by David Wilson, Arcade Fire’s Money + Love is a stunning 16 minute mini movie starring Arcade Fire themselves and actress Toni Collette (The Sixth Sense, About A Boy) and features some beautiful visuals.
Chronicling the aftermath of a 360 deal with fictional global media and e-commerce platform Everything Now, the video features full performances of “Put Your Money On Me” and “We Don’t Deserve Love”, both taken from the Grammy Award-nominated #1 album Everything Now.
And there’s good news for UK fans of the band, they’re coming to our shores in April for a series of live dates on their Infinite Content tour. While it’s unknown whether or not Toni Collette will make an appearance, I’m sure the band on their own will be more than enough. Dates are as follows:
April 6th DUBLIN, 3Arena
April 8th MANCHESTER, Manchester Arena
April 11th LONDON, The SSE Arena, Wembley
April 12th LONDON, The SSE Arena, Wembley
April 13th LONDON, The SSE Arena, Wembley
April 15th BIRMINGHAM, Genting Arena
April 16th GLASGOW, The SSE Hydro
