New 2Pac music on the way?
Tupac Shakur’s estate has settled its lawsuit against Entertainment One, the company it sued because it was claimed it had withheld royalties to the tune of seven figures.
According to TMZ, Entertainment One, the company formerly known as Koch Records, will pay the rapper’s estate a substantial six figure amount, which might not be as much cash as was sought but there was something way more significant won in the settlement.
2Pac’s mother Afeni Shakur, who sadly passed away back in 2016, was the administrator of her son’s estate in 2013 when Entertainment One was sued. Aside from suing for withheld royalties, Afeni also requested the return of a collection of unreleased master recordings that her son had made.
The six year lawsuit came to a close this week and it’s being reported that those unreleased masters will now be returned to the Tupac Shakur estate – the value of the recordings is said to be a seriously large amount.
Whether or not those recordings will see the light of day is something yet to be determined, but of course we hope they do. New 2Pac music in 2019? Yes please!
Considered by many as the greatest rapper of all-time, 2Pac was shot in a drive by shooting on September 7th 1996 and died in hospital six days later on September 13th. He was 25-years-old.
