8 shows, 8 cities, 8 days
Dr. Martens are always keeping their eye on the future music stars of tomorrow and this November they’ll be sharing their finds with the rest of the country.
Hosting a week of live events, the footwear brand who love self-expression will touchdown in eight different cities bringing along with them eight of the UK’s most exciting up-and-coming artists. Taking place in Dr. Martens stores and open to just 60 lucky attendees per show, you won’t want to miss this opportunity to get up close and personal with some of the stars of the future.
Dubbed Dr. Martens Presents 2018, the first show will see Scottish trailblazer Lewis Capaldi take to the stage – or shop counter – in Cambridge on November 2nd. One of this year’s most talked about rising stars, the folk sensation stormed out the gate with stunning debut single “Bruises”. Since then the 21-year-old singer/songwriter has released new singles “Lost On You”, “Fade” and “Grace”, and he even collaborated with the incredibly talented Jessie Reyez on their song “Rush”.
Telling us what fans can expect from his intimate Dr. Martens show, Lewis said:
“I’m actually in the first day of rehearsals as we speak so I’m going to be working on some surprises in the week or so ahead. I’ve got loads of ideas which I’ve been writing down over the past six months or so, so I’m hoping to get some of those in the set and I will probably be playing lots of new songs.”
Excited to play as part of Dr. Martens Presents 2018, Lewis remembers the first pair of DMs he ever got. “My first pair would’ve been a pair of the original shoes in smooth black,” he says. “I’ve had them for years now and they’ve done me well and seen me through some good times.”
Other names on the bill include HEX, the Nottingham-born rapper dubbed “the UK’s answer to Post Malone,” playing in his hometown of Nottingham, indie band Swim Deep, who will be playing in their hometown of Birmingham for the first time in years, and charismatic four-piece King Nun, who will be playing in Dr. Martens Newcastle store.
Then there’s Tom Grennan, arguably one of the UK’s most promising new voices, whose new album Lighting Matches was released this summer, who will be playing in Brighton on November 5th, while the likes of Bad Sounds (Bristol), The Ninth Wave (Glasgow) and Young T & Bugsey (Leeds) round out the Dr. Martens Presents 2018 lineup.
Encompassing 8 shows in 8 cities in 8 days, Dr. Martens Presents 2018 is the go-to hub of the most exciting voices and sounds in modern British music – celebrating those who do things differently and stamp their own mark on culture in the process.
