Drake has confirmed that he does indeed have a son
Rumours that Drake had fathered a son began last month during a lyrical feud with Pusha T. On his diss track, “The Story of Adinon”, the G.O.O.D. Music rapper accused Drake of having a baby with a porn star.
On the track Pusha T rapped: “You are hiding a child, let that boy come home, deadbeat motherfucker.”
Finally breaking his silence and confirming the news via a selection of tracks taken from his new album Scorpion, Drake sounds like he’s ready to embrace being a father.
“I wasn’t hiding my kid from the world/I was hiding the world from my kid,” he spits on “Emotionless”, the fourth track on the first disc of his new album.
“Breakin’ news in my life I don’t run to the blogs/ The only ones I wanna tell are the ones I can call.”
It’s not just news of his new baby that Drake addresses on the new album either. On the track “March 14th” he discusses the relationship he has (or lack thereof) with his son’s mother, Sophie Brussaux.
Referencing Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” and advice his mother Sandi Graham had previously given him, Drake spits: “She’s not my lover like Billie Jean but the kid is mine/ Sandi used to tell me all it takes it one time, and all it took was one time/ Shit, we only met two times, two times.”
Continuing, Drake adds: “I used to challenge my parents on every album/ Now I’m embarrassed to tell them I ended up as a co-parent/ Always promised the family unit/ I wanted it to be different because I’ve been through it.”
Confirming his son’s birthdate as October 11th, he raps: “October baby for irony sake, of course/ I got this 11 tatted for somebody, now it’s yours.”
The irony being that Drake was also born in October and his brand OVO is an acronym for October’s Very Own.
Scorpion is out now.
